The austere black totes ($900–$1,500) of the old days still sell steadily. But on the whole, the clothes now lean toward the demurely lovely, delivered in silk, cotton and the label’s classic techno-stretch fabric. This spring, Prada is blending metal threads into its textiles and changing the silhouette of its clothing for a softer look. For example, cocktail dresses made of gold silk are also threaded through with metal. Slouchy bags are embellished with tasteful ruching.
