Manitoba-born Catherine Pacak used to live in Kenya, where she learned that poa is the Swahili word for “cool.” In this life, she presides over a gleaming shop at the bottom of the new Spire condos at Church and Adelaide. Her client base mostly features busy 40- and 50-something executive women who don’t have the time or can’t be bothered to search through stores. Lines are culled from Germany, Brazil, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Canada and Italy. Look for blazers at $325 and up, pants from $235, skirts from $225, colourful scarves from France’s Malfroy Million ($150) and stone, metal and wood necklaces from Mary Design ($85).
