Reminiscent of Liberty of London, Virginia Johnson’s creations are festooned with leaves, berries and flowers, but with a breezy, modern twist. In the six years since she started her business, the Toronto designer has created a mini-empire. Her pieces are sold as far away as Barneys in New York; her swaths of colourful cotton adorn women, children and…furniture. The bright and charming home collection—which includes a series of delightful pillows ($90–$195)—will cheer up minimalist interiors. Johnson’s clothing line has a similarly summery feel (specialties include airy caftans and lovely sundresses). Little girls get their due with dresses, and women can complement a strappy frock with a merino wool shawl ($195).
