Thieves Boutique
- 1156 Queen St. W. (at Beaconsfield Ave.)
- 647-435-4880
This edgy Beaconsfield boutique, formerly known as League of Lovers and Thieves, has quickly become a neighbourhood favourite. The shop showcases two separate labels. League of Lovers is the brainchild of Dana Takeda, who adorns women’s clothes with fanciful silkscreened images. The more tailored Thieves is the work of owner Sonja Den Elzen, and it’s aimed at both women and men. Both designers work exclusively with sustainable fabrics and offer modern cuts that move well from office to cocktail party (dresses, $160–$400). The loft-like space also carries other stylish but ethically made lines, like fair-trade, hand-felted Nepalese cashmere by Heartfelt and clever reclaimed leather bags from Vancouver’s Ashley Watson.
