When Tom Ford was at the helm of the luxe label in the ’90s, his brazen collections were tailored to temptresses. But new creative director Frida Giannini has brought a fresh femininity to the clothes. More subtle than smouldering, designs tend toward the fluid and luxurious. The fall collection was inspired by Lee Miller, a regal 1940s model and photographer, and features high waistlines and fitted bodices with strict ’40s tailoring. The palette includes blacks, greys, burnt orange, bright yellows and greens, as well as oversized tartans and checks. A deco floral-print dress with a ruffled shoulder and sleeve is a highlight, alongside short dresses with structured sleeves and thigh-skimming straight skirts. Tweed aviator coats work well with skinny tweed pants.
