Girl Friday

The modern, feminine clothes at Girl Friday—the showcase for local designer Rebecca Nixon—attract those who know a bargain when they see one. Both boho shoppers and working girls will find something to love. The distinctive Girl Friday pant (the one with the wide leg and wide waistband, $120) is also sold as part of a suit (with a natty short-sleeved blazer in black or midnight blue). For fall, wrap dresses ($130–$140) come in solids and prints. Bridesmaids’ dresses can be worn more than once; off-the-rack numbers go for $120 to $230 (custom orders are also available). At least 10 styles of Vancouver’s Dish Jeans go for less than $100, and will flatter any physique.
