Fans of fashionable Canadiana would do well to stop by this five-year-old store, hidden on a largely Ethiopian section of Bloor Street West. Carefully chosen by the committee of owners (all artists and designers themselves), the clothing and accessories found here are inventive but wearable. Montreal’s Fairyesque offers work-friendly blazers, blouses, shirts and skirts ($75–$160). Enviro fabrics are big, like silkscreened organic cotton and soy shirts by Vancouver’s Lilikoi. There’s also reworked second-hand clothing from the colourful, locally made line I Heart Cake.
