The wares at this venerable Bathurst fashion institution range from the conventionally classic to the uniquely funky. Freda’s private collection specializes in solid, pinstriped and patterned suits ($350–$600). Sinéquanone pants (from $95) infatuate the young at heart. Such fashionistas-about-town as Jeanne Beker snap up expensive, eye-catching Suzi Roher belts ($200–$400). Staff, many trained as image consultants, nod approvingly. In the back, a dramatic gold Tadashi gown ($390) and a sexy silk–and–peekaboo lace number by JS Group ($380) flank more subdued evening gowns ($200–$1,000). Freda’s is dedicated to outfitting women of all shapes and sizes, carry-ing sizes from four to 20 and offering expert alterations in-store.
