Ports 1961

Founded in 1961, this luxury clothing store was one of Canada’s signature fashion houses, known for tweedy tailoring, conservative twin-sets and moderate prices. In the early ’90s, after running glamorous ad campaigns with Kate Moss, Ports became a prestige label on par with Chanel and Prada. So much for those moderate prices; the Bloor Street outpost sells upscale clothes—designed by creative director Tia Cibani—that embrace a jet set lifestyle and reflect a global aesthetic. Beautiful cashmere sweaters go for $500, and tailored suits and coats for $1,000-plus.
