First a DJ night, then a magazine, and now a café–cum–clothes shop: for the past five years, the Ukula crew (owners Graeme Maclean and Kevin Renton) have been busy injecting T.O. with a little modern Euro flavour. For natty gents, there are such items as overcoats, asymmetrically buttoned sweaters, trousers by Denmark’s Junk de Luxe, and dark denim by Tiger of Sweden. Ladies can slip on tailored togs by local label Common Cloth or high-waisted dresses by Paris’s Sessun. Unisex stuff includes clever silkscreened T-shirts by Toronto’s own Gems & Junk ($30–$60) and imported all-weather leather sneakers by Germany’s Zeha Berlin ($150–$192).
