Susan Harris grew up in the rural landscape of Lake Erie’s Cedar Island. The influence emerges in the design of her clothing: T-shirts may feature an oak tree, goat or rooster ($58–$68); a cocktail dress is fashioned from earth-toned recycled fabric ($280). After selling her wares through Holt Renfrew and on Tecumseth Street for three years, Harris has a new studio location on Adelaide Street. Her clothing has a personal, experimental feel, much of it made from recycled materials, and hemp or bamboo fabrics. It’s eco-friendly, with raw seams and scraps of handwritten non sequiturs adorning the Ts ($58–$68).
