Roots

Today the store is leaning increasingly toward eco-chic: vegetable-tanned leather bags ($58–$548) hang from reclaimed branch stands and tree stumps serve as coffee tables. To this end, many garments—from sports socks ($13) to baby clothing—are made with organic cotton or hemp; bamboo fibre linens (starting at $34) are soft and eco-friendly. Stylish denim shares display space with yoga apparel, created by Denyse Green (wife of co-founder Don Green), who also runs the Roots Yoga Studio upstairs (classes range from ashtanga to mat Pilates).
