If it’s a big name, you will probably find it here. Recent renovations overseen by local design team Burdifilek have turned the once faintly stodgy store into an airy, modern mecca of rich woods, Lucite and shimmery metals. The World Design Lab is the place to find lesser-known (for now) cutting-edge designers; other new lines in the Bloor store include Current Elliott, William Rast, London-based designers Jean Pierre Braganza and Mark Fast, as well as Tom Ford for Men and Alexander McQueen jewellery. Holts also uses its considerable market muscle to get exclusive dibs on sought-after brands; if you’re looking for the likes of Canadian Jeremy Laing or the all-American Marc by Marc Jacobs, this is the place to go.
