To the untrained eye, Shoon’s shoes resemble something a frisky hobbit might wear—comfortable, colourful and bohemian. Huddled in the shadow of Honest Ed’s, the tiny, funky store caters to the Annex crowd, with shoes that are both comfortable and slightly wacky. Plain Clarks are brightened up by punchy colours such as pomegranate and twig. For more adventurous types, there are wedges, Mary Janes and stacked heels from the popular Fly London; shoes with contrast stitching and tapestry-like finishes from Eject (about $200); and retro-inspired shoes from New York’s Farylrobin ($110–$130). For spring, there are flip-flops from Flojos and Sugar in wild patterns and hues (orange, yellow, green and lavender, $40); a new line of Clarks with ’60s-style beading, braiding and bows; and soft slouch bags from Joto.
