The store has barely changed in the 16 years it’s been on Bloor; carved wood walls and glowing cove ceilings conjure up a library–meets–private club feel. But boy, has the aesthetic evolved. While well-made loafers and driving shoes for men, women and children remain classics, the seasonal footwear, handbags and accessories are two steps fashion forward, one step back to basics—in other words, chic but comfortable. Cole Haan is owned by Nike, which explains why many of the shoes boast signature Air technology.
