Australian Boot Company

As tough as the Australian outdoors, this store’s stock-in-trade, the ubiquitous Blundstone boot, looks completely at home on urban Canadian streets. Weatherproof and soled in lightweight polyurethane, the cozy Blunnies endure snow and slush with aplomb. The elegant original is still the best-seller, but the Chisel Toe version dresses up nicely; the ultra-comfortable Chunk Sole is good for working, camping and anything else that requires a lot of standing. Unisex by design, the boot comes in sizes ranging from women’s six all the way up to men’s 14, and a small array of neutral colours, including black, brown, moss and olive suede. In addition to shoes, there’s also a small clothing selection that tends toward the outdoor functional: New Zealand’s Icebreaker merino wool T-shirts ($70–$90) and outerwear ($160–$400) that layers up nicely to resist Toronto’s unpredictable temperature fluctuations.
