In business for more than 20 years, this jewellery outfit’s name and location were something of a secret passed between the city’s plugged-in and moneyed. However, in 2007, Myles Mindham moved from his seventh-floor studio down to a small boutique nestled on the ground floor of the Park Hyatt. The shop now tempts well-heeled tourists and passersby with its understatedly luxe baubles. Mindham’s intricate designs are often inspired by nature, including the landscape around his Muskoka summer home: tumbling drop earrings in black or white diamonds resemble either teardrops or paisley; an 18-karat white gold all-Canadian diamond necklace ($30,000) mimics twining branches. Other pieces incorporate striking combinations of colour and texture—a yellow gold wide quilted cuff with princess-cut diamonds in its crosscuts is $18,900. Mindham is also the only place in eastern Canada that stocks coveted Franck Muller watches (from $6,000).
