Mark Lash Fine Jewelry

You won’t find robin’s egg blue boxes here, nor are there cases upon cases of jewels. But judging from the number of loved-up couples loitering about this tiny shop, Lash is an expert in diamonds. Since the 1980s, he’s been doing swift business in engagement rings. And if the security system is any indication, this bling is worth big bucks. An exquisite five-strand diamond bracelet is a pricey option at $49,000, while a blinding diamond cuff is tellingly missing a price tag. The store also features a smattering of rings, necklaces, brooches and earrings, with diamond studs running $300 and up. The smallish selection can be excused, as the main trade here—about 50 per cent—is in custom work. The stores’ in-house designers can customize a one-of-a-kind design or rework an existing piece.
