Perhaps you’re set to hobnob with Charles and Camilla at Ascot. Or maybe you just need something to keep your noggin stylish and cozy come winter. Whatever the case, chances are milliner Karyn Gingras has the hat for you. For fall outings, she might suggest a cloche in aubergine velour felt ($170–$190) or a fedora complete with a jaunty feather ($160), while a wedding or an afternoon at the races calls for a classic wide-brim straw hat trimmed with flowers, beads and lace (from $260). For gents there are fedoras, flat caps and an updated version of the porkpie hat (all from $150). A coterie of hat makers at work at the College Street atelier offers an up-close look at the art of millinery.
