This cool, white store is the brainchild of the cool, blond Basia Polowska, whose celebrated jewellery manages to be both avant-garde and absolutely classic. After making a name for herself and her wares in haute shops around the world, just over two years ago she opened this outlet to market her vision in its entirety—design that looks good on real women and has longevity. Here, choose your jewellery first, then accessorize with clothing. Most of her creations are made without clasps or closures, so they can be worn many ways, many times: futuristic tangles of black wire and glass tubing can be wound around the neck as a choker or worn straight as a metallic tie; a long, long rope of rhodium-plated chains can be worn as a necklace of many lengths or even a bracelet. Simple pearl earrings start at $69, while wide triangular earrings threaded with crystal are $175; one-of-a-kind pieces come at couture prices. For the body, there’s flowy linen by Icelandic line Elm, patterned silk dresses by Hype, a sequined black and white V-back dress ($1,950) by Slovenia’s Cliché, and many more well-made pieces by international designers. In the back, paintings and other household items complete the vision.
