Not just for kids (although it does host sleepovers), Raymond Moriyama’s celebrated design hosts small corporate meetings for 10 to 300 during the day, and larger, private bashes after hours, in a variety of spaces, most of which have spectacular views of the Don Valley and its forests. The Great Hall seats 650 and features an outdoor terrace (perfect for cocktails), floor-to-ceiling windows, and a light-reflecting ceiling sculpture by David Rokeby called The Cloud. The high-ceilinged Valley Marketplace Restaurant features equally stunning views (and is equally popular for weddings) within a greenhouse-style space that seats 300. For a more kid-friendly, keep-’em-busy space, head to Level D, where a central hub known as the Hot Zone seats 200; it leads out into five mostly interactive exhibits, which include sports, communication, the rain forest, the famous hair-raising electricity exhibit, and the Weston Family Innovation Centre. Needless to say, it’s popular for bar and bat mitzvahs.
