Ensconced in the verdant Highland Creek, this historic bungalow is a scenic gem. It’s surrounded by sprawling, manicured lawns and peony-filled gardens and is one of the city’s best examples of Arts and Crafts architecture. Built in 1913 as a summer house for businessman Miller Lash, it was only recently restored to its former grandeur. Of the seven rooms, the largest (75 for cocktails, 50 for dinner) features a beamed cathedral ceiling and an impressive brick fireplace. In the summer, larger groups can be accommodated in the Clearspan tent (350 for cocktails, 250 for dinner), equipped with see-through walls, twinkle lights, ceiling fans and a dance floor. Framed by mature trees and sloped lawns with theatre-style seating, the wood arbour is picture-perfect for weddings or other events. No corkage fee means you’ll save a bundle.
How much:
weddings, indoor facilities from $1,500, Clearspan tent from $4,000; corporate meetings, large rooms from $450, small rooms from $150
Catering:
choose from five preferred caterers; dinner from $100 per person
