One of the Met’s catering packages (billed simply as “the best of both worlds”) combines wizardry from Hemispheres executive chef Raymond Cheung and Lai Wah Heen chef Ken Tam. And although the menu features shark fin, abalone, suckling pig and other such items, Cheung can also cook up more customary Western fare for less adventuresome types. The Mandarin Ballroom (seats 300) offers a modern twist, featuring blond wood, mirrors instead of windows, and colourful glass wall decorations. Other options include the Toronto Ballroom (seats up to 200), and 12 contemporary meeting rooms.
How much:
cost of room included with catering fee
Catering:
in-house; Western-style four-course dinner from $50 per person (with reception, wine and beverages from $80); 12-course Chinese-style dinner from $90 (with reception, wine and beverages from $100)
