Surrounded by 100 acres of parkland, filled with iconic Canadian art and very eco-friendly (it’s about to be LEED certified), this Group of Seven landmark provides secluded serenity for special events. Most people choose to be married outside on the isolated outcrop known as Wedding Hill and hold their reception indoors, either in the Grand Hall, with its rock walls and wood-beamed cathedral ceiling, or in the smaller restaurant and terrace that overlook the Humber Ravine. The hall seats 220 people, the restaurant about 100. Another reception option is the Founder’s Lounge, which can seat 40 and looks out onto the canopy of the Humber River forest. For a small fee, you can also arrange to have the galleries remain open for private viewing. There is a separate bridal suite in the Meeting House opposite the main building, and plenty of picturesque backdrops—stands of oak, maple and birch, and the famous Tom Thomson shack—for photographic memories. You might even see a deer.
How much:
terrace $500 per night; Wedding Hill $600; galleries $500; McMichael Café $1,000 per night (includes use of terrace); Grand Foyer $1,500 per night
Catering:
in-house by Gourmet Catering; vegetarian menus available
