Built in 1894, Massey Hall is a rich period piece. The main hall is a Victorian fantasy, and there are art deco touches all over the place, left over from the last major renovation, in the 1930s. Everyone from Keith Richards to the Mendelssohn Choir to Rush has performed here; pictures of the stars (plus memorabilia) grace the walls of the Centuries Bar & Lounge, a space in the basement that holds up to 250 people, and the Balcony Lounge (up to 60). True, the venue lacks a great deal of wide open space, but the auditorium holds 2,753 sitting down (with a more intimate gathering of 200 for cocktails or 120 for dinner on the stage), and the historical detail is absolutely stunning.
How much:
Balcony Lounge $350; Centuries Bar & Lounge $475; auditorium $8,000 (includes both lounges) for non-ticketed events
Catering:
choose from five approved caterers; $85–$300 per person
