For grand fairy-tale weddings, the King Edward—Toronto’s oldest luxury hotel, celebrating 105 years of business—is one of the city’s most popular venues. But keep in mind that romance knows no budget: a do in the Vanity Fair Ballroom, a favourite of local socialites, certainly doesn’t come cheap. Nevertheless, it certainly plays the part beautifully: the room has perfect wedding cake decor, including gold curtains, teardrop chandeliers and faux marble pillars, plus 10 nearby reception rooms with monikers like Pall Mall and Palm Court. The ambience—silver trays and French service are popular—is pure class. All told, the ballroom and reception areas can hold up to 300 people for a sit-down affair or 500 for a stand-up one (including a dance floor). The Sovereign Ballroom (400 for cocktails, 180 for dinner) is a light-filled, photo-friendly space with lovely full-length windows.
