Stage a gala in this Merchant Ivory–worthy venue. English country gardens, stone terraces and flowing fountains transport guests from Don Mills to a veritable Sissinghurst. Built in 1936 by financier Rupert Bain and owned by just one other family until the mid-’60s, the manor got a facelift seven years ago and was opened as an event facility. Now, private receptions make use of eight fireplaces, a library, dining room and conservatory. Other luxuries include organza, damask and chiffon linens, as well as Rosenthal china and crystal stemware.
How much:
entire facility $6,000 per day; rates vary
Catering:
in-house; dinner from $60 per person, cocktails from $30 per person
