Built too late—in 1913—to be truly Edwardian, this immaculately restored theatre complex retains that era’s devotion to decorative opulence. From the gilt plaster details of the main theatre to the marble columns in the front lobby, the visual splendour never lets up. The 1,500-seat Elgin is done up in red and gold, with a proscenium arch topped with a golden crest; the 992-seat Winter Garden is hand-painted with sylvan scenes, the perfect venue for a romantic dinner onstage (seats 80); the lobby at the front of the building is equally regal. The four tiered spaces hold 100 to 170 people each and can be rented separately or together.
How much:
each lobby from $950 (four-hour minimum); Elgin up to $6,100 per day
Catering:
choose from four approved caterers
