A family-owned company, Higgins has been supplying corporate functions, weddings, and bar and bat mitzvahs in the GTA since the early ’80s. Two locations, one in Oakville, the other in Toronto, carve up the territory. The large Toronto showroom sees plenty of daily traffic from event planners and private clients alike. Personalized details make for memorable events, and the company’s large rental catalogue represents a vast range of individual tastes and styles. Tartan, leopard print and even gold lamé linens are standouts in the healthy selection of table coverings, which also includes such tasteful classics as ivory damask (for the more demure host). On request, a white picket fence works as a prop for the idealistic (or ironic) bride and groom. All the wares—glass, flat and serving—fit for a posh head table or simple children’s party are here for the choosing. Tents for large-scale outdoor and private affairs are also available, as is portable cooking equipment.
