Customized invitations allow you to show off your personal style. But if you haven’t got a clue what your personal style is, graphic designer Marie-Josée Fontaine will help you find it. For inspiration, you can bring in fabrics, paint chips or a page from a magazine. She also has graphic prototypes on hand to get your juices flowing: there’s a drawing of an oven with a cake inside or a same-sex couple holding hands. Fontaine specializes in “wedding identities”—creating a specific look to be used throughout the special day. Recently, she created the monogram, font and printed materials (invites, ceremony booklets, seating board, number cards, gift tags) for an art deco wedding. She does “clean and classic” styles, too, using Japanese, vellum and specialty papers, along with letterpress, thermography and digital printing.
