Small, intimate and personal—these are the characteristics that have made Fat Cat Bistro a north Toronto favourite. Now, due to the popular demand of customers and friends, chef and proprietor Mathew Sutherland has taken these qualities on the road. Creativity and flexibility are a priority: Sutherland avoids traditional pre-set menus and clichéd catering dishes; clients have free rein over the choice of food. Sutherland—who supervises all events and personally attends whenever possible—deals directly with farmers to ensure fresh, seasonal and organic ingredients. In general, Fat Cat offers five- and seven-course tasting menus (with or without wine pairings); both modest gatherings (a cocktail party for 60, say) and large events (a 500-person corporate shindig in Muskoka) can be accommodated. Should you need a venue, Fat Cat can also play host, either in the bistro or its new wine bar.
How much:
buffet dinner from $40 per person, plus wait staff and chef’s charges
