The Cake Lady—Edible Art by Vanessa Le Page

  • 416-539-9415
Some sculptors work in marble, others in bronze or clay. The Cake Lady, a.k.a Vanessa Le Page, works in ganache-filled chocolate cake. The Dufflet alumna sculpts her made-from-scratch creations into all shapes and sizes. Her portfolio includes a three-dimensional Eiffel Tower, an elaborately iced reproduction of a Delft blue china plate and, for Mr. Dressup’s retirement party, an edible Tickle Trunk. Quirky requests are welcomed (she once did a roast chicken–shaped cake), but three-tiered wedding and basic slab cakes receive equal attention. Flavours include crowd-pleasing vanilla, chocolate and carrot, as well as delicious lime-, rosewater- or grapefruit-infused sponge cake; all receive a thick coating of fresh buttercream icing. For vegans and the allergy-prone, dairy- and egg-free cakes are available.
