This Belgian bakery’s croissants, once a cult favourite in Leaside, are now famous throughout the city—and rightfully so. But its credentials are not confined to the flaky French boomerang-shaped bun: display cases are filled with an assortment of cakes and pastries to suit any occasion. Classic gâteaux (decadent Black Forest, almond cream–filled gâteau Basque) and éclairs are beautiful to behold; mousse cakes and glazed miniature fruit tarts are equally scrumptious. Dumas (hazelnut and chocolate mousse filled with hazelnut dacquoise) is a specialty; so is Voltaire (chocolate mousse with flourless chocolate sponge cake).
When:
W–F 8–5, Sa 8–4, Su 8–3.
How much:
Cakes $15-$50.
