Main mod Mark Holmes is an English expat best known as the front man of the ’80s hair band Platinum Blonde, but thanks to this increasingly popular nightclub and a fine record selection, his career reinvention is nearly complete. Mod Club Saturdays offer a live band and more Brit pop than the mix over at Revival, plus newer U.K. jams. The anglophile angle can be a bit over the top—giant pop art portraits of Brit icons are plastered on the walls—but there is a certain classiness, and an amazing sound system that’s attracted some terrific live shows: Dizzee Rascal and the Tragically Hip have both played here.
