One of the best small-scale music venues to open in Toronto in quite some time, Lula Lounge, with its decent-sized dance floor, is a real gem on an otherwise desolate stretch of Dundas West. Lula also serves up a sophisticated mix of Latin and international music. Beyond the usual salsa and merengue, the soundtrack incorporates an eclectic mix of Brazilian, African, jazz and cabaret. Outstanding live acts have included Café Cubano, John Cale and Norah Jones. Cover can reach up to $35 for special performances, though it’s usually closer to $15.
