Club XS

Club XS’s provocative, sexed-up commercials (showing a cool blonde with what appears to be a vial of cocaine, for example) playing in a loop on the tilted televisions hanging from the ceiling are as unreal as the mist from its fog machine. In reality, well-behaved 19- to 25-year-olds, mostly from the suburbs, dance, gawk at the nearly naked go-go dancers, and pack into bottle-service booths, spending their first real paycheques at their first real club. Made over in April 2009 from Republik, which once drew the alt-rock crowd to its 102.1 live-to-air nights, the new red and black outfit plays Top 40 and club anthems—Friday nights are broadcast live on 105.1 Energy Radio.
