This Asian-inspired sleek dance club brings a touch of Zen to Toronto nightlife. Though the word means “way of the warrior” in Japanese, Budo is positively pacific: the aesthetic is Buddhist garden with clean wood panelling and Japanese lettering. The embodiment of the yin-yang theory, the tranquil backdrop is offset by thumping tunes and a buzzing crowd of young scenesters. A possible result of the increasingly younger crowd, the club rarely serves pricey fruit martinis (save for some cosmos and the odd apple martini); bottled beer is the preferred poison. Jeans and T-shirts are the preferred uniform. Open Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Cover $10.
