Whelan’s Gate Irish Pub

The poker-playing regulars that crowd the bar lend an authenticity to this Irish pub. A wagon-wheel chandelier illuminates the cozy first floor, all dark wood and bedecked with customary beer signage. Whelan’s claims the best selection of Irish whiskey in town, but the taps offer unsurprising local and import brews. A pint of Guinness is $7.50, and every Monday night a beer and a burger is $12.95. The menu features the usual pub food, including Guinness Irish stew ($9.95).
