The Junction dropped its long-standing dry status over a decade ago, but the neighbourhood has only recently begun to find its footing in the nightlife scene. This cozy spot is as comfortable as your living room—if your living room had a pressed-tin roof, exposed brick and an upright piano. Live music, including bluegrass and folk, takes over the front of the bar on many evenings. Microbrews are accompanied by a rotating menu of comfort food specials (mac and cheese, shepherd’s pie) available on Monday nights; munchkin-friendly dinner options speak to the surrounding ’hood’s baby boom.
