The owners of the Communist’s Daughter were the first to make Dundas and Ossington safe for 50-sipping hipsters. Now they’ve established another beachhead in the slowly gentrifying Bloorcourt Village. Significantly larger and airier than its Dundas cousin, Three Speed has a sleek ’70s rec-room vibe: all retro fixtures, exposed brick and quilted bar stools. The latter are occupied by locals giddy to finally have a watering hole to call their own. The small menu ranges widely, from Reuben sandwiches ($8) to mussels in three different sauces ($8). Eight beers on tap, including Stratford Pilsner and a light, simple 3 Speed Lager ($6–$7).
