Once the poison of “mad poets and licentious artists,” as the menu says, absinthe is the choice beverage for Trinity Bellwoods’ own tortured literati, who rendezvous nightly at this bordello-inspired den. Flickering candles illuminate the deep crimson walls, marked with early-20th-century tattoo flash. Thick, roped curtains, a faux crystal chandelier and romantic antique furnishings contrast with the contemporary jukebox, which spews out boisterous beats from Le Tigre, Peaches and Tom Waits. Tip: there are drink specials every day before 7 p.m.
