A neighbourhood bar with a baby grand is a rare thing. But Statlers has got one, and a good thing, too, given the bar’s address—in the heart of the gay village. This joint has been on the map for three years, its narrow room a haven for after-work regulars (generally a slightly older, unpretentious crowd). The decor is a bit rough around the edges, but when the music gets going at the end of the week—everything from cabaret, folk and pop to torch songs and jazz—nobody seems to mind.
