Silver Dollar Room

Opened in the ’50s, the Silver Dollar started out as the cocktail lounge of the Waverly Hotel. Now one of the city’s premier blues clubs, it still has a deliciously retro vibe. The joint is jumping most nights with live rock, bluegrass and, of course, blues. The Dollar has hosted plenty of legends in its day, including Bobby “Blue” Bland, as well as such long-time local acts as Jack de Keyzer; a number of the genre’s greats are depicted in a mural. Many working musicians (and devotees of the old Spadina scene) still grab a stool at the bar and knock back bourbon. Cover varies.
