Shakey’s Original Bar and Grill

A Bloor West Village bar for serious Maple Leafs fans, Shakey’s was originally owned by Mike Walton, an ex-Leaf. And it shows in the decor. At the entrance, there’s an enlarged portrait of Queen Elizabeth greeting a former Leafs captain. Inside, the walls are covered with team photos and signed photographs of other pucksters (a young Wayne Gretzky is pictured with long, wavy blond hair). When you’re not watching the game on one of the big-screen TVs, pretend you’re in a museum and check out the wooden sticks and Western Hockey Association memorabilia. When the Leafs lose, the place seems like a memorial for a fading team. You can drown your sorrows in the beer.
