On sleepy Harbord, The Roxton is refreshingly low-key. From the outside, the place looks like a seedy booze can–strip club (special touches include neon diamonds decorating the wall). Inside, however, the bar is a haven for scene-weary locals who prefer pints of 50 ($5.50) to chocotinis. The decor is eclectic: blue-grey walls are adorned with the grille of a Bentley and a replica Goya nude; crimson brandy snifters double as candle holders. Lively conversation accompanies the wails of Bob Dylan, Crooked Fingers, et al.
