The Rhino Bar & Grill

An Annex-style bar in the middle of Parkdale, the long-standing Rhino serves a late-20s crowd that’s hanging on to undergrad style (think beards and forage caps), but also has a taste for the finer things in hops and malt. The beer menu lists over 200 bottled beers from more than 40 different countries—from Argentina and Austria to the U.S., Ukraine and Vietnam—all neatly categorized (ale, lager, cream ale and more; pints $4–$5.50). The draft taps pour some splendid examples of the local craft—Mill Street, Rhino lager, Wellington, Creemore—plus a few well-placed foreigners, such as Guinness and a Belgian beauty or two. The menu features the usual pub grub, but it’s all very affordably priced (burger $6.50); the atmosphere is low-key convivial, with pool tables to the rear and a bustling patio to the side.
