Pantages Martini Bar & Lounge

Small but sparkling, the martini bar at the Pantages Hotel is a beacon of style in the grim environs of Yonge and Dundas. With a lobby recently revamped by the Designer Guys, it provides a chic contrast to the neighbouring watering hole, the collegiate Imperial Pub and Library. Though “modern Canadiana” is the theme, the northern touches—a sleek double-sided fireplace and glittery metallic branches—are jazzed up by the odd exotic addition. For privacy, retire to the intimate library, which can be booked for groups. But if you want buzz, come after work: between 4 and 6 p.m., half-price martinis, beer, wine and cocktails attract a lively crowd.
