Good tunes (a mix of traditional Irish and energetic club music), decent beer (Guinness, Keith’s, Stella) and quality Irish fare (stew, meat pies, fish and chips) make Murphy’s the pub of choice in the area. The sprawling space covers three storeys; the rooftop patio is open mid-April to early October; a front patio serves as overflow on busy nights. The massive bar boasts a small but good selection of Irish whiskeys (Jameson, Bushmills) and single malt scotches (Lagavulin, Oban, Macallan). There’s a mix of cozy nooks and wide open spaces for mingling. Sports fans appreciate the five TV screens; patrons appreciate the wait staff, who skilfully carry what seems like their weight in beer. Live bands entertain with Celtic music or Top 40 covers on Saturday night (except in summer). Children are welcome until 9 p.m.
