This odd little eccentricity floats above a couple of parking lots in a very off-kilter part of town, close to the Merchandise Building condos but far from most downtown nightlife. Downstairs is a cozy marine-themed space (porthole mirrors and lights) that allows for four people at the bar and another three on a leather couch by the window. Upstairs on the rooftop patio, trendy 20- and 30-somethings sit slumped on comfy black couches in a space that’s very South Seas veranda, with bamboo hangings and windows on three sides. The drink list echoes the theme with plenty of beach-ready concoctions, such as margaritas, bellinis and lychee spritzers ($7), plus a list of affordable martinis ranging from the cosmo, the Lychee and the Bikini to the in-house specialty, the Minitini (vodka, Hpnotiq, blue curaçao and grenadine).
