Ki

Situated in the financial district, Ki is a drinking destination for wealthy Bay Streeters. Conceived by the team behind The Keg and Hy’s Steak House, this bar-cum-restaurant is slicker—and pricier—than its predecessors. In keeping with the modern Japanese menu, the decor is East meets West, with pale wood, red leather and polished steel. The dress code is casual but upscale: the after-work crowd is a sea of suits and ties. On a busy Thursday night, it can take 20 minutes to cross the room or get a drink. There’s an extensive range of beers, wines and cocktails; the lychee and lime cocktail is a blend of Absolut vodka, fresh lime juice, lychee liqueur and fresh mint garnish ($12). If you score a seat, the sushi menu’s perfect for snacking. Closes at 1 a.m. Monday to Saturday.
